HARI
HULL ARTIST
RESEARCH INITIATIVE
HARI is an artist-led, not for profit, experimental multidisciplinary arts venture set up in 2021.
Our core areas of interest are research, experimentation and engagement, concerned with process and enquiry rather than finished product.
HARI encourages artists to value and share their making processes and research phases through residencies, discussion, exhibitions and events. With these activities we aim to increase understanding by audiences of the rationale and richness of research behind finished artworks. We support artists to do this by including both targeted groups and general publics in these processes.
HARI also upskills local artists through opportunities to utilise the space and participate in talks, debate and workshops.
Until March 2024 HARI operated out of a public facing 3-storey meanwhile shop at 47 King Edward Street in Hull City Centre, provided by Prospect Shopping Centre through AxisWeb.
We lost this space due to change of ownership, but have now moved to a fantastic new building – occupying a large 1st-floor post-war industrial space at 25 Francis Street, HU2 8DT.
This new venue offers the opportunity to reflect upon how HARI operates to make dynamic opportunities for artists to conduct and share their research processes, and trial different ways of working. We look forward to inviting artists, practitioners/researchers from other areas of study, and the public in to this new space for events and engagement opportunities.
25 Francis Street, Hull, East Yorkshire, HU2 8DT.
